Good article. But the subject is so vast that, obviously, it cannot be summrised into single article. Such articles should initiate some sort of debate or discussion.
As one may ask that how do you explain the poll percentage? Why do people participate hugely? Everyone know that it is a corrupt system then what leads people to polling booths? Is it expression of strength of so-called democracy or is it, in essence, a symptom of deepening of its crisis?
And perhaps more importantly, what is the alternative? Does it lie in electoral reforms, as many would say? Can reforms improve its health at all?
How does our 'democracy' actually work? and what is democracy all about? Is it merely confined to casting votes? etc.
ਅਸੀਂ ਜਮਹੂਰੀਅਤ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਘਰਾਣਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਜੁੰਡੀ ਰਾਜ (Oligarchy) ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ.....very fair and well supported argument.
